While it is actually best to use plain old water from your garden hose – spraying and keeping the concrete wet (which allows crystals in the concrete to grow within the matrix of the slab & make it harder), most prefer the more practical method of applying a “Cure & Seal” product.
Unfortunately, most of these products are formulated to cure the concrete better than actually sealing and protecting the concrete. Also, the film that is formed on the surface of the concrete typically looks blotchy or in many cases is not UV stable and it will yellow – especially if it is applied too thick.
Sometimes we run into a situation where a homeowner will contact us and see what we can do to fix the ugly sealer mess on their concrete and our solution is always the same: shot blast the surface of the concrete with our shot blast machine to remove the inferior product, pressure wash and then apply our penetrating clear seal.
