When a basement sump-pump fails – it can be a mess to deal with. That’s what happened to our latest customer in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Instead of putting more carpet down, crossing his fingers and hoping for the best – the homeowner called us for a better option. I’m talking about an option that most people never think about – decorative concrete staining.
On this particular job, we first had to remove a bit of carpet glue on the basement floor by shot blasting and diamond grinding. Then with a little acid washing and ammonia neutralizing we were ready to apply our base coat of polymer infused cement.
Next, we put down a second polymer cement overlay coat which was a mixture of our thin finish and micro finish product (this mixture created a nice and smooth surface to work with). After a little surface sanding and wall masking, we then colored our new cement canvas with a water-based stain utilizing a wet-on-wet technique.
