Back Yard Patio Concrete StainingAs a homeowner, you know how important it is to have a space that distinctively your own and designed to your specifications. While every home has basically the same structure and surroundings, what makes your home unique is how it’s made to fit your style. This also applies to your backyard. While most everyone has this space, what you do with yours can make all the difference. So to help you better design your backyard, here are some ideas to get you started.

Walkways

Walkways connect your backyard to the rest of your house and your décor will benefit from having a designed walkway. Stencils, stamps, or stains, you have many options to choose from when designing your walkways.

Patio

Your patio is basically the gateway to the back of your house and is the first thing you and your guests see when they step out the back door. Don’t settle for a grey concrete slab, design your patio to fit your home’s style and make sure the rest of the backyard matches it in some way. For example, if your patio has the classical look of Tuscan Slate, make effort to design the rest of your backyard with natural elements to fit the theme.

Fire Pits

A fire pit is a great for anyone who enjoys spending their nights around a warm fire, talking with their loved ones. Fire pits are completely optional and may not work with your particular design, but if you spend a great deal of your time in your backyard relaxing, a fire pit could be a great addition.

Landscaping

As we’ve covered in other posts, nothing brings nature to your backyard like great landscaping. Introduce plants, shrubs, and even trees into your backyard to combine natural elements and modern design in one beautiful package. Add an optional water feature like a fountain, bird bath, water garden, or pond to bring wildlife into your backyard and create a natural backyard that looks great while still being enjoyable.

Personal Touches

Once you have the “hard” parts figured out, now’s the time to give your backyard the personal touches to make it uniquely yours. Whether it’s planting your favorite flowers or the using the color scheme of your favorite sports team, customize the fine details of your backyard to make it YOUR space.
