By understanding what the term "Link Juice" means to you and your website (and acting on this information), you'll jump ahead of your competition by leaps and bounds.
If you're serious about boosting your website to the top of page one in the search engines (& dominating your local market) for the keywords you're going after - read the following very carefully . . .
Most directories on the web are giving out useless links (As far as Search Engine Optimization benefits go). The big social networks and highly ranked "forum-type" sites are all using what is called
"NoFollow links" (in the html code) on any links that are linking to you.
What does this mean?
Basically, when search engines see a "NoFollow" link that's going from one site to another site, it essentially says that the site that has the "NoFollow" attribute attached to the link will not flow page rank - meaning,
the link will not contribute anything as far as search engine rankings.
Remember, search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing look at incoming links to your site as a type of "endorsement" of the site that they're linking
to. When a high ranking site links to your website (with a beneficial "follow" link), you will get a bump in your search engine rankings (and get closer to the number one spot on page one). Getting as close to the number one
spot as possible in the search engines for the specific keywords that you're going after is what SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is all about!
Are "NoFollow" links useless?
No, you still get the benefit of potential customers finding you through the links (when they click on the link to you) but as far as getting any better in your search engine positions, there are no benefits (no link juice).
Why is getting Links Without the "NoFollow" Attribute" A Good Thing ?
The more incoming links your site has (without the "NoFollow" attribute attached to it), the higher the search engines (like Google, Yahoo and Bing) will rank your site for the keyword terms that you're going after. For example,
a business that is trying to get work in the Denver, Colorado area might want to try to rank at the top of page one for "Denver Concrete Stamping".
Here's a couple of interesting videos (about "NoFollow" / "Follow" links) from Matt Cutts who works for the Search Quality group at Google:
Another HUGE thing to consider - Keyword Rich Links
When someone links to your site, typically that external link to you will be just your web address (URL) - for example, most websites will link to you like this http://www.supremecrete.com/. While it's
good to get a link to you without the "NoFollow" attached to it, you would benefit immensely if you could convince the sites that are linking to you to use "Keyword Rich Links" (sometimes called anchor text).
If you really wanted get the search engines to love your site and give it a better ranking - get as many incoming links to you as you can by means of "Keyword Rich Follow Links".
If we used our example from earlier about the decorative concrete company from Denver, having a link like Denver Concrete Stamping is much more beneficial than just having a
link like http://www.wolfmanconcrete.com/.
Both links point to the same address, but the first one is much more powerful as far giving you a boost in the
search engine rankings (this is what the term "link juice" is all about)!
WE WILL GIVE YOU SOME POWERFUL LINK JUICE - after you do just one thing
When we first approve your directory listing, the link to your website will have the "NoFollow" attribute attached to it.
If you are interested in improving your search engine results by changing that "NoFollow" link over
to a "Follow" link with all the good "Link Juice" associated with it, you have to do one of two things:
1.) Show-off at least one of your decorative concrete projects on our "Showcase Your Work" section of this site. All you have to do is
post info about any decorative concrete project you've been involved with.
Besides your link on the directory changing over to a "Follow" link, any additional links (pointing to your site) that you
enter on the "Showcase Your Work" page, will be "Follow" links as well.
You're free to post on as many projects as you want - the more you post, the more links you'll get to your site.
2.) Put a link on your site that is pointing to Decorative Concrete Kingdom.
This link to us must be no more than two clicks away from your home page AND you must not have any more than five outgoing links on that page.
Copy & paste the html code below & enter it some place on your site:
<a href="http://www.decorativeconcretekingdom.com/decorative-concrete-contractors.html">Listed at Decorative Concrete Kingdom</a>
After you do one of the above requirements, we'll actually enter a "Keyword Rich Link" on your listing page in addition to the URL link to your site (these will be "Follow" links!).
